Oxford Venues

Some cities promote their history, others their unique culture and sights and yet more rely on their activities and amenities to draw the crowds. There is one city that never has to try too hard at any of these and that is Oxford. Forever associated with one of the oldest seats of learning in the world and certainly one of the most prestigious, Oxford University certainly dominates the city skyline with its 'dreaming spires' but it is just a part of what makes the city so special. The river and beautiful green spaces, the shops, pubs and lively music and arts scenes all help form a superb environment for Oxford venues.

Oxford Venues, concert lights The incredible buildings and architecture of the university colleges provide an historic ambience and character to the city which is far from staid or stuck in a bygone age. The vibe rather, is very much one of a lively contemporary cosmopolitan city, with cafes and international restaurants, busy shopping and the hustle and bustle of the many visitors who come on the guided tours to see the sights and soak up the atmosphere. Getting away from the busier elements of tourist trails is easy too by taking a leisurely punt on the River Thames or a picnic in the many quiet green spaces. There are Oxford venues convenient for all parts of the city and beyond.

It perhaps goes without saying that there are event spaces in Oxford which make the most of the historic buildings and many of the old hotels do indeed offer unique venues in which the event cannot help but be enhanced by the charm and refined elegance of the surrounds.

In a city in which centuries of academics have been arranging meetings the facilities for doing so are well established. The only difference in modern times is the ready availability of the very latest audio visual equipment for presentations. Even the oldest Oxford venues are equipped with the newest technologies.

Historic buildings also make great Oxford venues for weddings and special celebrations. The formal aspects of a wedding are certainly complemented by beautiful spaces which have seen so much history, and they can look great too. There are classic old hotels in the city, so popular for weddings that they do not only host wonderful receptions but are licensed to conduct the ceremony too.

This is especially true of the traditional inns, most often found on routes into the city centre, and they may also make use of stunning outdoor spaces and gardens associated with the property. There are contemporary hotels in Oxford too of course and many of these are ideally suited for corporate guests and business meetings. Guest rooms will have all the latest technologies and amenities expected from good hotels, while general features may include business centres with computers and office equipment as well as meeting spaces.

These may be reserved as part of a conference package or booked on an ad hoc basis, perhaps for small scale boardroom meetings. Conference packages may be offered on a full or half day basis, with all the hospitality included for tea breaks and lunches. The hotels will almost always have restaurant and lounge and bar options which delegates can take advantage of when not in the meetings.

The city has well established arts, theatre and music scenes, with a wide array of venues used for the purpose. These can often be booked on a private basis for meetings and social receptions. The pubs and clubs may also have function suites which come with entertainment and hospitality built in and there are numerous Oxford venues associated with the university.
